Histogram of Oriented Depth Gradients for Action Recognition

چکیده
In this paper, we report on experiments with the use of local measures for depth motion for visual action recognition from MPEG encoded RGBD video sequences. We show that such measures can be combined with local space-time video descriptors for appearance to provide a computationally efficient method for recognition of actions. Fisher vectors are used for encoding and concatenating a depth descriptor with existing RGB local descriptors. We then employ a linear SVM for recognizing manipulation actions using such vectors. We evaluate the effectiveness of such measures by comparison to the state-of-the-art using two recent datasets for action recognition in kitchen environments.

Naive Bayesian Fusion for Action Recognition from Kinect
The recognition of human actions based on three-dimensional depth data has become a very active research field in computer vision. In this paper, we study the fusion at the feature and decision levels for depth data captured by a Kinect camera to improve action recognition. More precisely, from each depth video sequence, we compute Depth Motion Maps (DMM) from three projection views: front, sid...
متن کاملGradient Local Auto-Correlations and Extreme Learning Machine for Depth-Based Activity Recognition
This paper presents a new method for human activity recognition using depth sequences. Each depth sequence is represented by three depth motion maps (DMMs) from three projection views (front, side and top) to capture motion cues. A feature extraction method utilizing spatial and orientational auto-correlations of image local gradients is introduced to extract features from DMMs. The gradient lo...

In the field of intelligent transportation system (ITS), automatic interpretation of a driver’s behavior is an urgent and challenging topic. This paper studies vision-based driving posture recognition in the human action recognition framework. A driving action dataset was prepared by a side-mounted camera looking at a driver’s left profile. The driving actions, including operating the shift lev...
متن کاملJoint Angles Similiarities and HOG for Action Recognition
We propose a set of features derived from skeleton tracking of the human body and depth maps for the purpose of action recognition. The descriptors proposed are easy to implement, produce relatively small-sized feature sets, and the multi-class classification scheme is fast and suitable for real-time applications. We intuitively characterize actions using pairwise affinities between view-invari...
